I woke up this morning to the sound of a cat meowing at the back of my house. Curious, I opened the back door to find this orange kitten meowing from the drain. It was shivering and its body was wet, so I reckoned it must have slipped into the drain and could not get back out. I stood there watching for 5 minutes formulating a plan to rescue the kitten without having to dirty my hands. At first I thought of getting a rope to let the kitten climb out but realized I was being silly - a kitten cannot possibly hold on to a rope and climb back out.
As I was thinking the kitten meowed even louder while looking at me with its sad face. Realizing that there was no other way, I reached down to the kitten and scooped it out of the drain with my hands. I did not have gloves, so all I had were my bare hands. Its body was very warm as I held it. My heart ached when the kitten limped back to its mother as soon as I dropped it to the ground. Poor the kitten. Animals love, why can't humans love like them?
I had always bluffed in my answers in Moral tests. Remember how the questions were like?
Situation: You were walking home from school one day when you saw a kitten in the drain, unable to get out of it. What would you do?
Our answer would always be: I will save the kitten by taking it out of the drain.
Cats are cute creatures. I even thought of presenting the kitten to Joe, who adores cats.
Today I did a good deed, and I am proud of myself.
